Mahama reiterates commitment to sports infrastructure development
President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has reiterated his commitment to contributing to the country’s sporting infrastructure.
Mahama says his government will look to add to the multiple facilities constructed by the previous government while also setting up facilities in the newly created regions.
The President was speaking on the floor of Parliament during the 2025 State of the Nation’s Address on Thursday, February 27.
“Infrastructure development remains paramount to our strategy. The government is committed to refurbishing national stadia, completing youth resource centres and constructing new sports facilities in the new regions,” he said.
“We will also prioritise community recreational facilities to foster greater participation in sports at the grassroots level.”
The Nana Akufo-Addo-led government promised to build 10 multipurpose Youth Resource Centres during their tenure.
However, just two were commissioned before they were voted out of power during the 2024 general elections.
