Maidenhead Hockey Club is launching its ‘Back to Hockey’ programme for the summer, with sessions commencing at Altwood Astroturf in Maidenhead from Sunday next week (June 22).
The free hockey taster sessions are open to all and aim to give people a taste for the sport and encourage them to give it a try on a longer-term basis.
Maidenhead is urging those who have been watching from the sidelines, used to play and are considering picking up their hockey stick once more, or those looking to try something completely new to come down to the club and see what it has to offer.
Existing club members are also welcome to join the sessions and get in some pre-season training.
The club’s sessions will run over six Sundays, starting from Sunday, June 22 through to Sunday, July 27 from 10am to 11.30am. The sessions are for all ages and there will be experienced coaches available to help players throughout.
There is no need to book. Anyone planning to attend is encouraged to come down 15 minutes prior to the session to register.
David Joshua, Director of Hockey at Maidenhead Hockey Club, said: “Our ‘Back to Hockey’ sessions always prove popular.
“They are great fun, and we really encourage people of all ages and abilities to come along and join in. It’s a great way to try your hand at a new sport or to reignite some old skills.
“There’s no obligation to join the Club or make any further commitment – just come along and try it out!”
There will be hockey sticks available for those that do not have one, but attendees are required to bring their own gum shields and shin pads, as well as suitable clothing and water bottles.
