Make in India Hyundai i10 brand hits 3 million sales – Car News

The hatchback has achieved over 2 million domestic sales in India and exported 1.3 million units.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) announced that its ‘Brand i10’ has surpassed 3.3 million unit sales in both the domestic and global markets. The Make in India brand has achieved over 2 million domestic sales in India and exported 1.3 million units to more than 140 countries like South Africa, Mexico, Chile, and Peru. 

Hyundai introduced the i10 nameplate in 2007, and in a span of 18 years, the hatchback has witnessed three generations. HMIL is the leading automobile manufacturer and exporter, and contributes over 20% of its total sales.

Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, said, “We are thrilled to celebrate over 3 million sales of Brand i10, with 2 million units sold in India and 1.3 million exported globally. Achieving 91.3% localisation for domestic models and 91.4% for export variants underscores our commitment to Indian manufacturing and customer trust. This milestone reflects HMIL’s dedication to delivering innovative mobility solutions. With our upcoming Maharashtra plant, we aim to boost exports to both emerging and developed markets, furthering our ‘Make in India, For the World’ ethos.”

Current-gen: Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

The current generation of the i10 brand — the Grand i10 Nios is available in three options. Powered by the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, it produces 82 bhp at 6000 rpm and 113.8 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It is available in a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-step AMT. The hatchback also comes in CNG with an output of 68 bhp and 95.2 Nm of torque. It comes standard with a 5-speed manual. The Grand i10 Nios starts from Rs 5.98 lakh while the CNG version is priced at Rs 7.75 lakh, ex-showroom. 

The current Grand i10 Nios is packed with features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, LED DRLs, cruise control, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Based on the data shared by Hyundai, in FY 2024-25, over 45% of Grand i10 Nios buyers were first-time car owners, with 83% being married, making it a top choice for Indian families. Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana are its leading markets.
