Manvir Singh relishes India comeback, credits Khalid Jamil’s influence at Jamshedpur FC
Jamshedpur: Manvir Singh has described his recent India stint at the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 as a turning point, both for his career and his confidence. The forward, who played for Jamshedpur FC, featured in all three of India’s matches, logging around 144 minutes across the tournament, and returned home with a bronze medal.
“It was an unbelievable experience for me,” Manvir said. “To represent India is always a proud moment, and the CAFA Nations Cup was a big challenge against quality sides. I was able to contribute to all the games, coming on and giving energy whenever the team needed. Playing around 140 minutes in the tournament and helping the team secure a bronze medal gave me a lot of confidence. It makes me hungrier to keep working hard and earn more chances for India.”

The forward, who returned to action in JFC colours during the Durand Cup after a spell on the sidelines, has been on a roll since joining JFC, and believes that donning the national colours is an opportunity.
“Every camp is about learning and proving myself. The CAFA Nations Cup gave me good exposure, but now it’s about building consistency and showing I can be trusted in bigger moments. The qualifiers are coming, and I want to push myself to be ready whenever the coach needs me,” he said.
Much of his progress, Manvir insists, has been shaped by Jamshedpur’s former head coach Khalid Jamil, who now leads the Indian national team. “Khalid sir has been a massive influence on me. At Jamshedpur, he gave me confidence during my comeback and trusted me with minutes even when I was still finding rhythm. His style is very clear. work hard, and always put the team first. Carrying that into the national team feels natural because I already know what he expects. It’s motivating to see an Indian coach leading the country, and for me personally, it feels like a continuation of the trust he showed at club level.”
As India prepares for the crucial Asian Cup qualifiers, Manvir’s steady rise offers another reminder of Jamshedpur FC’s role in nurturing Indian talent and of the growing influence of Indian coaches at the very top.
