Margaret Qualley Wore Chanel at the 2025 Oscars

If there’s one person who never disappoints on the red carpet, it’s Margaret Qualley.

Tonight, the actor arrived to the 2025 Oscars looking like a classic Hollywood star in a black Chanel column gown. The timeless velvet design featured a boat neckline and subtle ruching along the waist, and the low-key nature of the look allowed her shimmering silver diamonds to take the spotlight.

While she kept things classic in front, there was a lot more drama in back, where the off-the-shoulder design created a deep, plunging V, and all that dangled against her bare skin was the tassel dangling from her necklace.

For beauty, Qualley switched things up with a knotty updo and a bright red lip, which matched the rouge tone of her nails.

Qualley will act as one of the presenters during tonight’s ceremony, and she is also in attendance to support her body-horror film, The Substance, which is nominated for Best Picture, Best Directing (Coralie Fargeat), Best Writing Original Screenplay (Fargeat), Best Makeup and Hairstyling (Pierre-Olivier Persin, Stéphanie Guillon, and Marilyne Scarselli), and Best Actress in a Leading Role (Demi Moore).

Historically, horror films don’t often get a lot of recognition by the Academy, and it’s refreshing to see The Substance collect these nods. In fact, during an interview with IndieWire, Qualley said, “I would love for it to be [Oscar-nominated], and I think that Demi’s performance certainly deserves for it to be. It would be spectacular if she were the one to make space for that genre within the awards circle. I’m not, like, the master of categorizing films, but I will say that this movie is visceral and nightmarish.”

For her performance as Sue in The Substance, Qualley recently earned her second Golden Globe nomination, and she spoke about the honor to Harper’s Bazaar, saying, “I mean, it all feels totally surreal. To be nominated tonight alongside these incredible women is such an honor, and sharing this night with Demi makes it all the more special. She is the most deserving, and I truly wouldn’t be here tonight without her.”
