One of the biggest stock schemes in Hollywood history is getting a new streaming home–and you won’t need a subscription to watch it. Martin Scorsese’s 2013 crime hit, The Wolf of Wall Street, is officially streaming for free beginning this month.
Beginning on November 1, The Wolf of Wall Street will be available to stream for free on Pluto TV. This is a marked change in the film’s streaming status, as it was previously only available on subscription services like Paramount+ or through special deals on Prime Video. Now, Pluto TV offers the three-hour crime saga without any additional charge, though viewers will have to put up with ads throughout.
The Wolf of Wall Street Gave Margot Robbie Her Start
The Wolf of Wall Street tells the true story of Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), a corrupt stockbroker whose massive scheme falls out from beneath him when an FBI agent (Kyle Chandler) sets his sights on him. Joined by an eclectic cast of all-stars, including Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Rob Reiner, and more, DiCaprio went on to earn an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Belfort. Still, with all this working in the cast’s favor, it was newcomer Margot Robbie who really stole the show.
The Australian actress plays Naomi Lapaglia, Belfort’s second wife, in the film. Only 22 years old at the time, Robbie was relatively unknown to most American audiences before The Wolf of Wall Street. The film, however, finally marked her breakthrough and, thirteen years later, she is one of the most in-demand actors working in Hollywood today. She has had a leading role in multiple major franchises, playing Harley Quinn in the DCEU (and possibly the DCU), Barbie in Barbie, and Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. In that time, she’s also earned three Academy Award nominations, including two for her performances in I, Tonya and Bombshell and another for producing Barbie.
Robbie has certainly come a long way since The Wolf of Wall Street, earning her place among the Hollywood legends of the 21st century. While she has certainly had more iconic roles in the last thirteen years, many audiences trace their memory of Robbie all the way back to this Academy Award-winning Martin Scorsese film.
The Wolf of Wall Street will be available to stream on Pluto TV beginning November 1.
