Marquardt, a German mechatronics company, has announced the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Talegaon, near Pune, India.

The company has invested approximately $21.5mn in infrastructure, machinery, and equipment at its new facility, which replaces its previous location in Mumbai.

The plant will primarily produce mechatronic system solutions for the Indian automotive sector such as training approval systems, selector switches, and battery management systems for electric vehicles.

Björn Twiehaus, CEO of the Marquardt Group, said, “India represents a key growth market for Marquardt with significant potential. By opening this new plant in Talegaon, we are advancing our success story in India and strengthening our role as a leading supplier of mechatronic systems for future mobility.”

The opening event brought together representatives of main car manufacturers, partner companies, and distinguished figures from business and government.

Marquardt has been present in India for several decades and operates a development centre in Pune. Over 450 people work on both local and global projects as part of Marquardt’s international innovation network.

In the next five years, Marquardt plans to create approximately 300 new jobs at the new facility, further enhancing its operations in India’s fast-growing automotive sector. The investment aims to simplify the supply chain, increase flexibility, and enhance response times.
