In July 2025, the indian car market showcased intense competition, with maruti Suzuki maintaining its top position, while mahindra surged ahead of hyundai to claim the second spot. Despite most brands experiencing year-on-year sales declines, toyota remained consistently within the top five.
1. maruti Suzuki – Market Leader
Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the sales landscape, selling 1.37 lakh units in July 2025, nearly matching its performance from July 2024. The Dzire emerged as the highlight of the month, with sales surpassing 20,000 units.
2. mahindra – Resilient Comeback
Mahindra made a notable rebound, achieving sales of 49,871 units, reflecting a robust 19.8% increase compared to 41,623 units in July 2024. The Scorpio led Mahindra’s sales, with more than 13,000 units sold in the last month.
3. hyundai – Third Place Decline
Hyundai dropped to third place, reporting sales of 43,973 units, a decline of 10.3% from the previous year’s 49,013 units. The Creta remained Hyundai’s top seller, contributing over 16,000 units to the overall sales figures.
4. Tata Motors – Negative Trend
Tata Motors saw a downturn, with sales reaching 39,521 units in July 2025, an 11% drop from the previous year. The Nexon was Tata’s best-seller, but the Punch experienced a significant 33% decrease in sales year-on-year.
5. toyota – Consistency Amidst Decline
Toyota held the fifth position with 29,159 units sold, slightly down from 29,533 units in July 2024. The Innova was Toyota’s leading model, while the Hyryder showed year-on-year growth, despite an 8% drop in Innova sales.
