Maruti Suzuki e Vitara patented in India, launch in Sept 2025 – Car News
Upon launch, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will compete against the likes of Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, and MG ZS EV.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has been in development for a very long time. The all-electric SUV made its global debut at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy followed up by its India debut at Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year. Earlier believed to launch in the first half of 2025, we later got to know that the launch has been pushed to September 2025.
The Indo-Japanese carmaker has finally filed a patent for the upcoming electric SUV in India. The design of the SUV seen in the patent stays intact with no noticeable change. India will be a key production hub for the e Vitara. The SUV will be manufactured at Suzuki’s new electric vehicle production facility in Gujarat.
Some key details of the e Vitara surfaced online recently. The electric SUV will be available in three variants namely Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. As reported previously, the e Vitara will be available in two battery options: 48.8 kWh and 61.1 kWh. The base Delta variant will only be offered with the Delta trim whereas the Zeta and Alpha trims will come with the 61.1kWh battery pack.

The e-Vitara will be available with two battery configurations: a 49 kWh pack paired with a single motor delivering 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque, and a 61 kWh option offering 172 bhp with the same torque output, also using a single motor. It will feature multiple driving modes — Eco, Normal, and Sport.
Fresh details reveal that the top spec 61 kWh charges from 0 – 80% in 45 minutes via a DC charger. With an expected range of over 500 km, the e Vitara does 100 kmph from standstill within 8.7 seconds. The 49 kWh e Vitara, on the other hand, accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.6 seconds.

The top-spec variant of e Vitara will boast features such as like dual digital screens, a 10.1-inch infotainment system and a 10.25-inch instrument console, along with ventilated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, sliding and reclining seats, USB and Type-C charging ports for both rows.
Convenience will be backed up by safety features such as 7 airbags, including a driver knee airbag, all-wheel disc brakes, an electronic parking brake with brake hold, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, and an Emergency Call with SOS button. On top of this, it will benefit from Level 2 ADAS features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive High Beam System, Blind Spot Monitoring, Active Cornering Control, and Multi-Collision Braking.
