Maruti Suzuki supercharges EV future with High Voltage Training at 130 ITIs across India – Electric Vehicles News
This initiative from Maruti Suzuki will help budding service engineers graduated from ITI schools to work on EVs and hybrid vehicles.
In a bold move to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption in India, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched a comprehensive High Voltage training program across 130 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in 24 states and 4 union territories. This initiative, under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, aims to prepare the future workforce for the rapidly evolving automobile industry.
Targeted at second-year ITI students, the training focuses on electric and hybrid electric vehicles (EVs and HEVs). It covers vital aspects like EV fundamentals, safe handling of high-voltage systems, specialized tools usage, and maintenance protocols. Over 4,100 students are expected to graduate from this program annually, beginning September 2025.
To support the initiative, Maruti Suzuki has invested approximately Rs 3.9 crore in training infrastructure, tools, and train-the-trainer modules. The goal is not just to benefit Maruti Suzuki’s own service network but also to uplift the broader automotive ecosystem by creating a pool of skilled technicians capable of handling the next generation of green vehicles.

Strategic Support for India’s Green Goals
According to Maruti Suzuki, one of the major concerns hindering EV adoption is the lack of after-sales service confidence among customers. “The fundamental to good service is a trained technician,” said Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki. By training more than 4,100 students annually, the company is addressing this gap head-on.
Currently, 90% of EV sales are concentrated in just 100 cities. Maruti Suzuki plans to scale up dramatically by establishing service readiness in 1,000 cities with over 1,500 workshops equipped to handle EVs. This move not only boosts customer confidence but also aligns with the Government of India’s carbon net-zero ambitions.
The synergy between EVs and strong hybrid vehicles ensures that the skills acquired through this training are versatile and future-proof. As India gears up for a cleaner automotive future, Maruti Suzuki’s initiative stands out as a critical enabler in shaping a technically empowered workforce.
