There are three things that make a film great: its characters, its storyline and its background score. While the characters and the plot drive the narrative, it’s the music that evokes deep emotions and creates lasting memories. In our cinema, music plays an essential role, often becoming the heartbeat of the film. Over the years, numerous music maestros have given us iconic soundtracks, but one musician has taken the industry by storm and achieved massive heights – Anirudh Ravichander.

Anirudh Ravichander’s Rise To Fame

Anirudh Ravichander’s journey to becoming the highest-paid musician in the country began with a viral sensation – his debut track ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ in 2012. The song, featured in the Tamil film 3, became an instant hit, breaking records and amassing over 450 million views on YouTube. This track not only showcased his talent but also introduced him to a global audience. Following this success, Anirudh Ravichander went on to compose music for several blockbuster films, working with stars like Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Rajinikanth, and even Shah Rukh Khan.

Anirudh Ravichander’s Record-Breaking Fees

In 2023, Anirudh Ravichander achieved another milestone in his career by making his Bollywood debut with the soundtrack of Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan. For years, AR Rahman has been the most bankable music composer in the country, but Anirudh Ravichander’s rise in 2023 marked a shift in the industry.

At just 33, he has overtaken AR Rahman, with other notable composers like Pritam and Vishal-Shekhar charging Rs 5 crores per film. Anirudh Ravichander’s work continues to win the hearts of audiences and his success shows no signs of slowing down. According to a report by News18, Anirudh Ravichander charged Rs 10 crores for the film, surpassing AR Rahman’s usual fee of Rs 7 to Rs 8 crores per project. Although he reduced his fee for his next projects like Leo and Jailer – charging Rs 8 crores per film – he remains the highest-paid composer across the country.

In 2024, Anirudh composed the music for N.T. Rama Rao Jr.’s Telugu film Devara, directed by Koratala Siva. He is also set to collaborate with Ajith Kumar once again for the film, Vidaamuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni.
