Mega Movie Week returns to Nordics

Members of The Digital Entertainment Group: Nordic Committee (DEGN) have announced the second edition of Mega Movie Week in 2025. Film fans across Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland will be able to enjoy promotional prices on VoD across ten days (June 14th – 22nd).

The latest edition of Mega Movie Week builds on the success of four previous campaigns, with the last initiative in February achieving a 381 per cent uplift in EST (Electronic Sell-Through) sales. This time, Mega Movie Week focuses on VoD (rental).

Mega Movie Week includes a range of movies across eleven major retailers including Allente, Altibox, Amazon Prime Video, the Apple TV app, Blockbuster, Elisa Viihde, Rakuten TV, SF Anytime, Telia, TV2 and Viaplay (some retailers only in certain regions). The campaign is supported by major film distributors – NBCUniversal, Nordisk Film, Paramount Pictures, SF Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Warner Bros Discovery.

The campaign features titles such as: Wicked, Gladiator II, Paddington in Peru, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Anora, Kraven the Hunter, Flight Risk, Companion, Old Guy and many more.

Jesper Dahlgaard, Chair (DEGN) & Nordic Director of Digital Sale (Nordisk Film), commented: “We’re excited to bring Mega Movie Week back for a second time in 2025, this time with a focus on digital rentals. The DEGN is committed to driving sustainable growth for the transactional market across the Nordics, and campaigns like this are essential in reaching new audiences and driving engagement. It’s a fantastic example of local industry collaboration, and we’re looking forward to building on this momentum with more campaigns throughout the year.”

Liz Bales, Chief Executive at DEGI: The Digital Entertainment Group International, added: “We are delighted to bring the Mega Movie Week campaign back to the Nordics, building on the strong success of previous editions and their impressive uplifts. This time, we’re using the campaign’s versatility to pivot toward the VOD market, applying insights from our earlier EST-focused initiatives. With a great selection of titles and attractive rental offers, this edition highlights the ease and affordability of digital rental to consumers, allowing them to enjoy more movies within their budget. It is also great to see the campaign follow our recent DEG Roadshow and Nordic Tradeshow in Stockholm last month, which highlighted so much ambition and growth for the region.”

DEGN was set up in 2018 in conjunction with DEGI: The Digital Entertainment Group International to enable cross-industry collaboration in a compliant environment to drive digital growth for the whole Nordic sector. DEGI works across multiple territories internationally to promote education, collaboration, networking and community.
