Megan Moroney has revealed that one particularly memorable red carpet moment left her with no choice but to ditch her underwear. The 29-year-old singer, who performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Sunday night, was asked on the pink carpet about the most outrageous fashion risk she’s ever taken.
Her answer immediately went back to the ACM Awards.
“I’ll tell you what my brain immediately went to,” Moroney told E! News. “The ACM Awards a few years ago, I had these like sticky underwear on, and they fell off on the carpet.”
Faced with the malfunction, Moroney made a quick decision. “So, then I just took them off and gave them to my publicist,” she said. “And so yeah, I didn’t have underwear on carpet.”
For the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Moroney arrived in a striking red chain-link minidress, though she joked that the look had nothing to do with what she would later wear onstage.
“The outfit is not at all correlated to my performance, but it’s beautiful,” she said. “It’s like a work of art. It’s really heavy, and maybe it’s preparing me for my performance.”

Moroney later took the stage for a medley of “6 Months Later,” “Wish I Didn’t” and “Sorry… I Meant Tonight,” all from her latest album, Cloud 9.
“I’m performing a medley of three of my songs, and two of them I’ve never performed on TV before, so I’m excited,” she said before the show. “They’re very confident girl-power anthems.”
The singer has also been open about the contrast between her polished stage image and how she looks away from the spotlight.
Earlier this year, Moroney told Cosmopolitan that she would like to eventually embrace a more natural look publicly, noting that fans already know she does not always appear in full glam.
“What is cool about my career and my fans is they feel like they know me through social media and they know that I don’t always look like this,” she said.
She added that fans who recognize her without the extensions, makeup, and stage styling have earned some extra credit. “If you can recognize me when I’m natural, you deserve a picture,” Moroney said. “You’re a true fan.”
