Your first meme coin trade on Banana Gun takes four moves: create and fund a Solana wallet with at least 0.1 SOL, paste a token’s contract address, read Market Cap and Liquidity in the buy menu before you tap Buy, and set a sell limit order before you start watching the chart.
Meme coin trading means buying tokens that run on a joke or a mascot, with no business behind them. Most Pump.fun curve tokens never graduate, per the Banana Gun blog (20 Aug 2026). Treat every buy as money you have already written off.
Banana Gun is a Telegram trading bot, so the whole routine happens inside one chat.
What is meme coin trading, really?
On GMGN’s 24h volume ranking for Solana (20 Oct 2026), 15 of the top 20 tokens launched on Pump.fun. People learning how to trade meme coins meet the game there, on a launchpad where anyone can create a token.
Spidey Show (SPIDEYSHOW) traded $3.30M in 24 hours on GMGN (20 Oct 2026) and ended at a $3.3K market cap, 99.7% below its $1.24M peak, about a day after its pool opened.
A buy near that peak with no exit order would have ridden the whole fall, and a Telegram trading bot does not change that. Size every buy on the assumption you are wrong, and you will survive the days you are.
Step 1: how do you fund a wallet in a Telegram trading bot?
Open Banana Gun in Telegram, tap “Wallet Setup”, then “Create Wallet” and name it. The private key appears once. Save it, because Banana Gun cannot show it again.
Already have a Phantom or Solflare wallet? Tap “Import Wallet” and paste its private key instead.
Type /wallets to see your public key, then send at least 0.1 SOL from Phantom or an exchange. Keep 0.05 SOL spare, because Banana Gun’s docs say an “Insufficient Funds” error means you dipped below that.
The Banana Gun blog has a first trade walkthrough for the same setup.
Step 2: how do you pick a token and read the buy menu?
Start with a list of what is actually trading. GMGN’s trending page works, and so does the Banana Gun Pro Trending page, which is public, needs no login and is in beta.
The Pro page has a chain selector, timeframes from 5M to 24H, and filters for max token age, minimum market cap, minimum liquidity and minimum volume.
Copy the token’s contract address, or a Birdeye, DexScreener or pump.fun link, and paste it into the chat. The buy menu opens with Token, DEX, Market Cap, Liquidity (in SOL), Price, Tax, Recommended Tip and Balance.
Read Market Cap and Liquidity together. Market cap is the last price times the whole supply; liquidity is what sits in the pool to pay you when you sell.
On GMGN (20 Oct 2026), the collectooor (COLLECTOOOR) had a $161K market cap and $42K of liquidity. Spidey Show had $2,093 of liquidity against that $3.3K market cap.
Step 3: how do you make a small buy?
Tap a preset “Buy” button or enter a custom SOL amount. Wait for “Buy Success”, then check /positions. The bot runs a sell check before the buy and blocks tokens you cannot sell.
When a buy fails, Banana Gun’s docs give three fixes: raise buy gas from 0.001 to 0.005 or higher, raise the MEV tip the same way, and for volatile tokens raise slippage from 5% to 10-30%.
Start with the smallest amount that lets you finish the routine. Buying takes a paste and a tap, so the first trade is practice for the exit.
Step 4: how do you set the take profit before the chart moves?
Paste the contract again and tap “Setup Sell Limit Order”. Set “Tokens” to 80 and “Active” to how long the order should live.
Pick “Take Profit” and trigger it on a 300% change in “Market Cap” or “Token Price”. A +300% take profit is a 4x.
Say you bought 0.5 SOL. At 4x, selling 80% brings back about 1.6 SOL before fees and slippage. The remaining 20% is worth about 0.4 SOL at that moment and keeps riding.
The 4x is a setting you choose, not something to expect. A take profit that the price never reaches never sells. A token at $150K needs $600K to hit 4x, and a token at $5M needs $20M.
Each sell limit order is either “Take Profit” or “Stop Loss”, so pick “Stop Loss” if the downside is what you want covered. “Trailing Stop Loss” is the one that follows price up. You manage everything in “Limit Order Overview”.
What do beginners get wrong?
Beginners most often skip the exit, or buy after the move.
Pokémon was up about 10,478% in 24 hours on GMGN (20 Oct 2026), but its $1.39M market cap sat 68% below the $4.36M peak. A buyer at the peak was down 68%.
Smart-money counts do not protect you either. Universal High Income (UHI) had 167 smart wallets holding on GMGN (20 Oct 2026) and still fell 79.8% in 24 hours. A high smart-wallet count shows interest in the token and says nothing about the next hour.
