MICE Café: Tourism Investment Forum Africa 2025 closes, shedding light on industry potentials
As Africa rises as a key player in the global tourism market, the Tourism Investment Forum Africa 2025 is making sure the spotlight is not only on its traditional hotspots but also on the cities and regions where untapped potential lies.
Last week, from August 27 – 29, the flagship gathering (TIFA) took place, having grown into one of the most dynamic platforms for shaping dialogue, sparking partnerships and unlocking investment in Africa’s tourism industry.
Ideas bounced around, many turning into strategies, and strategies into action – which have laid the groundwork for impactful investments that are set to shape the future of tourism across the continent.
Six priorities were identified to transform the sector: diversifying destinations, embedding sustainability into daily operations, building a shared skills pipeline, using AI to enhance – not replace human hospitality, reforming visa processes for key markets like India and China, and embracing cost-effective, influencer-led marketing strategies.
Emphasis was placed on genuine transformation, especially in skills development and ownership, and leveraging technology and policy reform to remove growth barriers. If implemented effectively, these strategies could position African countries, including South Africa, as more competitive and resilient tourism destinations.
