Michelle Williams Looks Lovely in Chanel at the 2025 Emmys
Michelle Williams views her Emmy nomination as a tribute to Molly Kochlan, the woman who inspired her Dying for Sex character. “She lives on, she gets to live a little more and we get to gather in her name once again,” Williams said. “It’s like another download of her energy.”
The limited series is an adaptation of Kochlan’s podcast “Dying for Sex,” which explores her sex life after she was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer; Kochlan passed away in 2019.
“One of the things that really lingers for me is her radical insistence on, first of all, life on her own terms without fear of judgment and her commitment to pleasure amidst pain, to try and hold enough space for both things. I can take that as a reminder just through my normal days, which have their ups and downs, and can be difficult or joyful, but that they don’t have to just be one thing,” Williams told Deadline. “We have been so blessed, so fortunate to be on the receiving end of what the show has meant to people. And I greet that with such appreciation and so much humility. And again, I draw it all right back to Molly and Nikki. We are amplifiers of who they were, so all the credit goes straight back to them. But to receive the reaction of the show have been one of the most profound experiences of my professional life.”
Tonight, Williams attended the Emmys wearing a pale pink Chanel dress that featured ruffles and pearls. She accessorized with Chanel high jewelry, including N°5 drop necklace and the knotted N°5 ring, and Chanel fine jewelry “Coco Crush” earrings.

It’s her second nomination. In 2019, the actress won her first Emmy for her role in Fosse/Verdon, and used her acceptance speech to speak about the wage gap.

“Thank you so much to FX for paying me equally. Because they understood that when you put value into a person, it empowers that person,” she said. “The next time a woman, and especially a woman of color, because she stands to make 52 cents on the dollar compared to her white, male counterpart, tells you what she needs in order to do her job, listen to her. Believe her. Because one day she might stand in front of you and say, ‘Thank you,’ for allowing her to succeed because of her workplace environment, and not in spite of it.”
