‘Milk & Serial’ Filmmaker to Direct ‘Anything But Ghosts’ for Jason Blum
Sketch comedian Curry Barker quickly established himself as a formidable horror filmmaker when he posted Milk & Serial on YouTube last year. Made for $800, the hour-long found footage film has amassed more than 2 million views.
Ahead of the release of Barker’s sophomore feature, Obsession, THR reports that the 25-year-old filmmaker has set up his next project: Anything But Ghosts.
Blumhouse’s Jason Blum is teaming with fellow genre titans Roy Lee (Weapons, It) and Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) of Spooky Pictures to produce the project alongside Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide/Conquer (M3GAN, Heart Eyes).
Barker will direct a script he co-wrote with creative partner Cooper Tomlinson. The pair will also star in the film. No plot details are available.
Image Nation and That’s a Bad Idea are backing Anything But Ghosts, with executive producers including Barker, Tomlinson, and Ben Ross.
Obsession premieres tonight’s as part of the Midnight Madness section at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it hopes to find a buyer.
In that film, when a hopeless romantic makes a wish that his long-time crush falls in love with him, a sinister enchantment ensues.
