Minda Corporation partners with Qualcomm to build smart cockpit systems for Indian cars
Minda Corporation Limited has announced a collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to develop smart cockpit systems for vehicles in the Indian market.
The partnership will see Minda Corporation, part of the Spark Minda Group, design next-generation cockpit platforms using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Platform. These platforms are intended to improve in-car digital experiences, offering enhanced displays, audio, computing power, and connectivity.
Minda’s new cockpit systems will support features such as AI-driven interfaces, multimedia functions, and cloud integration. These technologies aim to improve vehicle connectivity and the overall digital user experience, particularly for software-defined vehicles (SDVs), which rely more heavily on integrated software and over-the-air updates.
Suresh D, Group CTO, Minda Corporation Limited, said, ” By leveraging Qualcomm’s advanced automotive platforms, this strategic partnership enables us to offer intuitive HMI, seamless multi-display integration and software-defined cockpit architectures built on Android and QNX operating systems.”
Savi Soin, Senior Vice President, India President, Qualcomm Technologies, said, “The Snapdragon Digital Chassis continues to transform the driving experience, empowering manufacturers with premium technologies. We aim to redefine the in-vehicle experience for Indian consumers, bringing innovation and connectivity to the next generation of vehicles.”
Last month, Minda Corporation entered into a joint venture with Japan-based Toyodenso Co. to manufacture advanced automotive switches for the Indian market.
The new venture will handle the full process—from design and development to manufacturing and marketing—of automotive switches for two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and other segments in India. Minda Corporation will hold a majority stake in the partnership, with a 60:40 shareholding agreement.
The joint venture has already secured orders from Indian customers. A new manufacturing facility will be established in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and operations are expected to begin in the second half of the 2026–27 financial year.
