The first-ever big-screen adaptation of the world’s best-selling video game of all time is heading to theaters next month, and fans are starting to feel the excitement for A Minecraft Movie, starring Jack Black as iconic character Steve and Jason Momoa as Garett Garrison.
Over the last few months, we’ve had all sorts of previews for what’s to come, including teaser-length and full-length trailers, which have together amassed over 85 million views on YouTube alone.
The first preview came five months ago in the form of a 75-second teaser that showed us the core four characters in motion in a video-game-accurate world and gave us a first look at the world-building that went into adapting this beloved game for big-screen.

What Is the Minecraft Movie About?
After months of A Minecraft Movie keeping its details firmly under wraps, we now have an official synopsis on IMDb which tells us:
Four misfits are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world while embarking on a quest with an unexpected, expert crafter.

There have been quite a few teasers and trailers over the last few months for A Minecraft Movie, but Warner Bros. has now released the final trailer ahead of the film’s release, and it is every inch as chaotic as you’d expect.
The peaceful scene of pandas resting in a meadow is quickly disturbed by Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Sebastian Hansen hurtling to the ground at full speed with a bucket of video-game accurate water, and from there, all kinds of madness ensues.
When is the Minecraft Movie Released?
A Minecraft Movie is slated for theatrical release on April 4, 2025.
