Minister Andrews to attend World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings | NOW Grenada

Lennox Andrews, Minister for Economic Development, Planning, Tourism, Creative Economy, Ministry of Economic Development, Planning, Tourism, ICT, Creative Economy, Agriculture, and Lands, Fisheries and Cooperatives, and Permanent Secretary Chevanne Britton will be Grenada’s delegation at the 2023 Spring Meeting of the World Bank and IMF.
“At the heart of the Spring Meetings are meetings of the joint World Bank Group/IMF Development Committee and the IMF International Monetary and Financial Committee, where progress on the work of the institutions is discussed. Other featured events include regional briefings, press conferences, and fora focused on international development, issues of debt, economic recovery, and climate, said a statement on the World Bank’s website.
The theme for the programme of events will be Reshaping Development for a New Era.
The 10–16 April meeting will bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, parliamentarians, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organisations and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.
Among the topics down for discussion is The way forward: Building Resilience and Reshaping Developing. This discussion will be a joint seminar between the World Bank Group President David Malpass and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. “This conversation will explore how to better finance global public goods and address these challenges together,” the website said.
Other topics are Climate Finance in Sub-Saharan Africa; A low carbon future for the middle east and Central Asia; What are the options and Tackling the Digital Divide, and How Should Central Banks Battle High Inflation?
