Today, Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, met at his office in the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with H.E. Mr. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways of opening broader horizons of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism and antiquities.

This meeting comes as part of the Minister’s ongoing engagements with ambassadors of various countries to deepen bilateral relations and strengthen frameworks of cooperation between Egypt and these nations on both the tourism and heritage fronts.

During the meeting, the Minister welcomed the Ambassador and his delegation, valuing the strong ties between Egypt and India across different domains, and expressing his aspiration to expand cooperation in tourism and antiquities—particularly in light of the growing number of Indian tourists visiting Egypt, which recorded an 18.8% increase in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.

The discussions touched upon several topics of mutual interest, including mechanisms for joint tourism promotion in both markets through the organization of professional workshops between tour operators and travel agents from Egypt and India. The goal is to boost mutual tourism flows while highlighting Egypt’s diverse tourism products and experiences to attract different segments of the Indian market.

The talks also addressed the importance of meeting the needs of Indian travelers, who show particular interest in cultural and leisure tourism, in addition to the rising demand for destination wedding tourism, which is emerging as one of Egypt’s promising tourism offerings.

The two sides further explored opportunities for joint promotional campaigns and the organization of roadshows in key Indian cities to showcase Egypt’s unique tourism experiences. Plans were also discussed to host familiarization trips for Bollywood celebrities and Indian social media influencers to spotlight Egypt’s unparalleled tourism assets. Moreover, both parties underscored the importance of active participation in tourism fairs held in India to enhance Egypt’s presence in this promising market.
