Mister Miracle may soon be getting his own DCU animated series starring Josh Hutcherson, but before all that, he’ll be taking on an exciting new role in the DC Universe. The publisher has confirmed a new story with Scott Free at the center of the conflict.
DC Comics announced that DC All In Saga: The New Gods #1 will be a special 48-page one-shot story from Ram V and Alex Paknadel with art by Joan Urgell, set to go on sale January 13, 2027. In its pages, Mister Miracle will join the fray of DC’s ongoing All In Saga, becoming the Highfather on an Earth that’s facing incredible turmoil as New Genesis finds itself occupied by vicious alien outsiders. DC also unveiled cover art for the issue, which can be seen below.
DC Unveils New Mister Miracle Story For Its All In Universe in 2027
The new Mister Miracle tale ties in directly to DC’s 2024 All In Special, which gets even more massive this month with the release of DC All In Saga: Darkseid vs. The World #1 from Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson, Sanford Greene and Yasmine Putri. Darkseid has been a recurring, terrifying force throughout the entirety of All In, and that won’t be changing as Mister Miracle enters the picture.
The official description for DC All In Saga: The New Gods #1 reveals the bleak world Mister Miracle finds himself trying to make whole. “Mister Miracle thought he could escape anything. But in the wake of unimaginable upheaval, Scott Free has taken on a role he can’t escape: Highfather. With New Genesis occupied by sinister alien forces, the New Gods have taken refuge on Earth, leaving Scott responsible for leading displaced people searching for safety on a planet that is not their own,” it reads.
Earth’s new godlike inhabitants aren’t exactly greeted with the warmest of welcomes, either. “Their arrival on our world will not go unnoticed. Fourth World technology is being illegally traded on Earth, and tensions are rising as Mister Miracle and the New Gods attempt to peacefully coexist with their new neighbors. With their home world beyond their reach and their extraordinary technology falling into dangerous hands, the remaining New Gods must find their place in the DC Universe before the fragile sanctuary they have found becomes another battlefield.”
There’s more to explore with the New Gods in DC Comics’ future. “I’ve been itching to get back to The New Gods,” Ram V said in a press release shared by DC Comics announcing the new Mister Miracle story. “With this one-shot, it was an opportunity to dive back in, check in on where we left them and what they’ve been up to, and perhaps set up a few things for exciting new New Gods stories to come. As the All In Saga brings the greater story of the DC Universe to a pivotal point, the New Gods must make an important decision about their future, one that will define not only their destinies, but those of the humans and superhumans they’ve come to call friends.”

Mister Miracle and Big Barda Will Lead the DCU’s Adult Animated Series
Mister Miracle’s journey in DC’s All In Saga comes at a pivotal point for the character, with James Gunn’s own DCU about to bring him into the fold. It was announced in June 2025 that the DCU will be home to a Mister Miracle adult animated series, adapting 2017’s Mister Miracle comic book miniseries written by Tom King, who is attached as a showrunner and executive producer.
Earlier this month, Josh Hutcherson signed on with Mackenzie Davis to star as Mister Miracle and Big Barda, respectively. The series is expected to be released sometime in 2028, so it will still be a long wait for fans to watch the new series, even with the release of The New Gods to hold them over in the meantime.
