MNK Group appoints Alex Noorbaccus as Chief Risk Officer

MNK Group, the independent global group of insurance companies, has appointed Alex Noorbaccus as its new Group Chief Risk Officer.

In this role, Noorbaccus will be responsible for accelerating the development and rollout of the Group’s risk management framework as MNK Group expands its offices and geographic footprint.

He will ensure appropriate oversight and risk calibration across the business through formalised and standardised governance practices.

Noorbaccus brings two decades of risk management experience, including supporting the implementation of Solvency II requirements at Lloyd’s.

He joins MNK Group from Convex Insurance, where he served as UK Chief Risk Officer. Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade at The Hartford, most recently as Chief Risk Officer, International.

Noorbaccus also held various senior roles at Lloyd’s of London for four years and began his career at Catlin as a Risk Manager.

Manoj Kumar, Group Chairman and Managing Director at MNK Group, said, “Alex is the perfect person to lead our risk controls work. He has extensive experience and consistently been successful overseeing complex projects. I am confident that he will help us drive our business to the next level, and continue to innovate and provide the best solutions for clients.”

Commenting on his new role, Noorbaccus said, “MNK Group has been on a significant growth journey and this is absolutely the right time to strengthen our controls and make sure that we are working together effectively. I’m excited to understand the business back-to-front, and help generate a positive culture that our teams buy into and that supports further growth.

“It’s vital that as we continue to expand, and become a bigger, more complex group, we develop in a way that is in tune with Manoj’s vision for the business.”

Last month, MNK Group announced plans to continue growing its business both organically and through mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
