Montana Grizzlies to open fall football camp Aug. 9

MISSOULA — The Montana football team will start fall camp late next week, which is several days later than usual because the Grizzlies don’t play a game in Week 1 this season.

They’ll report for camp on Thursday, Aug. 7, to hold meetings, equipment fitting and walkthroughs for two days. They’ll get their first practice at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at Dornblaser Field. That kicks off their run up to their season opener on Sept. 6 in Missoula against Central Washington.

Montana practices at 2:30 p.m. each day on Aug. 9, 11-16 and 18-20 at Dornblaser Field before shifting to the Riverbowl at 4 p.m. on Aug. 25, 26, 28. Those practices are open to the public. Practices on Aug. 21-22, 27 and 29 are open to Quarterback Club members.

The Griz will get into their game week routine on Monday, Sept. 1. They’ll play 12 consecutive weeks in the regular season, will host an FCS-record eight home games, and will have their first four games inside Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
