‘Mookuthi Amman 2’: Nayanthara – Sundar C film’s cast and crew announced; Duniya Vijay to make Tamil debut

We had previously reported that 2020’s Mookuthi Amman is getting a sequel and Nayanthara is all set to return as the goddess. Vels Film International, the banner behind the original film, will also be bankrolling Mookuthi Amman 2. While RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan who directed the original are not helming the sequel, veteran filmmaker Sundar C is taking over the reins.

The film was officially launched earlier today with a grand pooja ceremony. Calling it the biggest film of his career, Sundar C introduced the cast and crew of the film at the event. Regena Cassandra, who was recently seen in Vidaamuyarchi has been roped in to play an important role in Mookuthi Amman 2. Kannada actor and director Duniya Vijay, who recently made his Telugu debut with Veera Simha Reddy will be debuting in Tamil with the upcoming sequel in which he plays the antagonist.

Sundar C also announced that Yogi Babu, Abhinaya, Ineya, Ramachandra Raju, Singampuli, Vichu Vishwanath, Ajay Ghosh, Lollu Sabha Swaminathan and Myna Nandhini are a part of the cast list. The director’s frequent collaborator, Hip Hop Tamizha Adhi is composing the film’s music while Venkat Raghavan, who has collaborated with Sundar for multiple films’ screenplay and dialogues is also on board the project. Gopi Amarnath, who has previously teamed up with Sundar C for Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru and Aambala, is the cinematographer of Mookuthi Amman 2.

Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International will produce the movie in association with Sundar C-Khushbu Sundar’s Avni Cinemax Pvt Limited, Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan’s Rowdy Pictures, and Ivy Entertainment.

Meanwhile, Nayanthara has multiple projects such as Test, Mannangatti Since 1960, Rakkayie and an untitled film with Vishnu Edavan. She’s also a part of Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.

On the other hand, Sundar is also directing Gangerswhich marks the evergreen combo of Vadivelu and the director who is also playing the lead in the film.
