Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India has invited applications for Phase I of ‘National Internship in Official Statistics (NIOS) 2025’
The scheme aims to (i) facilitate the young academic talentto study and get familiarized with the prevailing system of Official Statistics in the Country (ii) provide hands-on exposure to the diverse verticals & offices of MoSPI encompassing key domains such as National Accounts Statistics, Index Numbers, Energy Statistics, National Economic Classifications, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Environment Statistics & Accounting, Global Indices and Survey Subjects like PLFS, ASUSE, ASI, SE, UFS, Price Collection etc. (iii) to familiarize the interested and willing students with the Official Statistical System of the Country, with specific reference to data collection, processing & analysis, publication and dissemination needs.

The broad fields/disciplines for internship include National Accounts Statistics, Index Numbers, Energy Statistics, National Economic Classifications, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Environment Statistics & Environment Accounting, Global Indices, Survey Subjects such as ASI, AS, SE, UFS, MCPC etc., Public Policy, Information Technology for Official Statistics, Official Statistics of respective field of different Departments of MoSPI and State Official Statistics.
MoSPI intends to engage 272 interns for its Phase I of National Internship in Official Statistics (NIOS) Scheme in MoSPI and other Participating Ministries.
Internship Categories are classified based on the location as (i) Group A: Offices in Delhi (ii) Group B: Offices located outside Delhi (rest of the country). Details of the locations and number of interns proposed to be selected for each are given in the Detailed Notification at (Announcements link). The terms and conditions are also given in the Notification.
Eligibility: Applicants should be (a) Under-graduate students, having completed / appeared in the term end exams of second year / 4th semester of the Bachelor’s degree course with at least one paper in Statistics or Mathematics in their curriculum and secured not less than 75% or equivalent marks in 12th Class or (b) Graduate students pursuing any year of their Post-Graduate Programme with at least one paper in Statistics or Mathematics in their curriculum or (c) students pursuing Research / Ph.D. in Statistics /Mathematical Statistics / Operations Research / Economics / Demography or any other field of Applied Statistics and secured not less than 70% or equivalent marks in Graduation or (c) those who have successfully completed their graduation / post-graduate within the last two years and securing not less than 70% or equivalent marks in Graduation and / or Post-Graduation.
Duration: Duration shall range from 2 months to 6 months.
Stipend: Rs. 10,000/- per month. A certificate will be issued to the successful interns, on completion of their internship, by the respective offices where they are attached.

For Group A: Fill in the form as per the instructions and send the self-attested copy for printed filled in form along with supporting documents to training-mospi@nic.in. Group B: Fill in the form for Group `B’ and send the self-attested copy for printed filled in form along with supporting documents to respective nodal officers of Group B offices with a copy to training-mospi@nic.in
