On the night before India’s 79th Independence Day, Mumbai’s skyline became a stunning display of patriotism, with several of the city’s most famous landmarks illuminated in the vivid colors of the national flag — saffron, white, and green.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rose grandly with its Gothic design illuminated in tricolour, attracting throngs of locals and visitors keen to photograph the scene.

On the opposite side of the city, the Bandra-Worli Sea Link sparkled in the colors of the nation, its arching cables illuminating the dark Arabian Sea, representing Mumbai’s pride in modern engineering.

Churchgate Station, the iconic entryway to South Mumbai’s vibrant commercial area, celebrated the festive mood with a tricolour-lit exterior, while the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) tower infused a vibe of nationalism into Dalal Street with its glowing dome and ticker screen showcasing Independence Day messages.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport greeted visitors with its terminal facades illuminating in saffron, white, and green, leaving a memorable first impression for those entering the city.

The Gateway of India, perched on the shoreline, appeared magnificent in tricolor illumination, blending heritage with patriotic fervor.

Mantralaya, the state government’s headquarters, participated in the festivities, its structure enveloped in a vibrant tricolour illumination — a strong emblem of governance aligned with the essence of liberty.

From historical buildings to contemporary wonders, Mumbai’s lit-up landmarks turned into symbols of togetherness and festivity, serving as a visual testament to the city’s profound patriotism. The tricolour illumination will stay up throughout the Independence Day celebrations, allowing residents and tourists to enjoy the city at its most lively and nationalistic.
