Namaste India on Stracey Road in Norwich has closed

Namaste India, in Stracey Road at the Revado Hotel, has “permanently closed” only months after undergoing a refurbishment.

However, plans are in the pipeline to move the cookery school at Namaste Village – which is run by the same group in Queen’s Road – to the site.

“We’ve launched a breakfast menu at the restaurant on Queen’s Road and we’ve had great responses to it but it coincides with our cookery classes.

“Some of our students also stay at the Revado Hotel so it just makes sense to have the classes there.

“It’s also a strategy to make sure we run as efficiently as possible.”

He added: “We want to encourage our diners to continue to come to the Queen’s Road restaurant.”

In July this year, the Queen’s Road business was dubbed champion in the title of East Curry Champion of the Year at the inaugural British Curry Championship.

Some of the restaurant’s other accolades include the Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year award at the Nation’s Curry Awards 2023 and a TripAdvisor Best of the Best award in 2023.

It also won the Taste of East England Award at the East of England Tourism Awards in 2024.

Although the restaurant on Queen’s Road opened in 2016, Namaste India dates back to 2010 when it was a smaller restaurant that was launched by Vijay Jetani and Dalsukh Jetani.

The business has now opened five other restaurants across London, Cambridge, Oxford and Southend on Sea, with one for Birmingham on the way.
