Namibians encourged to explore India – News
The Indian high commissioner in Namibia Rahul Shrivastava has invited Namibians to explore the diverse tourist destinations in India.
Speaking during the inauguration of the county’s tourism expo on Friday, Shrivastava said India has vibrant culture, heritage and the myriad wonders has to offer.
“This event not only serves as a bridge connecting the rich traditions of our two countries but also opens up a world of opportunities, inviting you to explore the breathtaking landscapes, diverse cuisines, and warm hospitality that define the Indian experience,” said Shrivastava.
He added that tourism is driver of
economic growth which improves the quality of life through job creation.
According to the World Travel & Tourism Council’s Economic Impact Research for 2024, the travel and tourism sector of India is the largest service sector, contributing nearly U$250 billion to India’s GDP and generating about 50 million jobs.
“The Government of India is committed to harnessing tourism as a tool for social inclusion, job creation and economic development. With a vision to
attract 100 million inbound tourists by 2047,” said Shrivastava.
