Naomi Ackie in Talks to Join ‘Clayface’ Horror Movie Written by Mike Flanagan
Tom Rhys Harries (The Gentlemen) is set to star as the DC character in the upcoming horror movie Clayface, and THR reports that Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice) is now also in talks.
THR notes, “Reading sessions took place in England last week with Ackie emerging as the choice. Formal negotiations are due to begin this week, according to several sources.”
The outlet also reports, “The project is described as having shades and structure of The Fly,” with David Cronenberg’s 1986 remake being the specific point of comparison here.
Currently in pre-production, Clayface – described as a “complete horror film” – is expected to shoot later this summer for a September 11, 2026 theatrical release via Warner Bros.
James Watkins (The Woman in Black, Speak No Evil) will direct from a script by Mike Flanagan (“The Haunting of Hill House,” Doctor Sleep) and Hossein Amini (Drive).
The story centers on an actor who injects himself with a substance to remain relevant, only to find out that he can reshape his face and form, becoming a walking piece of clay.
James Gunn’s DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran previously called Clayface “an incredible body horror film that reveals a compelling origin of a classic Batman villain.”
