Nashik Champions Green Future with Tree Plantation Drive and River Clean-up on World Environment Day

Nashik, India – Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to environmental preservation, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) actively participated in two significant events commemorating World Environment Day. These initiatives showcased the city’s dedication to a green economy and a sustainable future, with enthusiastic participation from various government officials and community members.

The first event, held at Tagore Nagar in Nashik East Division, marked a dual celebration: a tree plantation drive and the inauguration of a “Jal Mandir” (Water Temple). This initiative, aimed at enhancing green cover and promoting water conservation, saw the presence of esteemed officials including Mr. Vivek Bhadane, Garden Superintendent, and Mr. Rajaram Jadhav, Divisional Officer, Nashik East, from the NMC’s Garden Department. They were joined by Mr. Sachin Devare, Garden Inspector, along with Mr. Nilay Babu Shah and his entire team from the Hiravankur Foundation, and all staff members of the Garden Department. The collective effort underscored the strong collaboration between the NMC and local environmental organizations in fostering a greener Nashik.

Following this, a special cleanliness drive was organized at the Laxmi Narayan Ghat courtyard in Ward Number 15. This event focused on the critical issue of maintaining the cleanliness of the Godavari River, a lifeline for the city. Participants took an oath to protect the river’s sanctity and were educated on the importance of river cleanliness. Mr. Rajaram Jadhav, Divisional Officer, Nashik East, once again played a key role, alongside Divisional Sanitation Inspector Mr. Sunil Shirsath, SI Gautam Pawar, Water Gas Sadhu Mahant, and other dedicated employees. The drive highlighted the NMC’s commitment to not only creating green spaces but also preserving the existing natural resources that define Nashik’s ecological character.
