Netflix Just Added the Movie That Inspired One of Its Newest TV Hits

Netflix’s streaming library is packed with must-watch licensed TV shows and movies, but more and more the streamer has been in the business of producing original titles. Over the past several years, the streamer has scored hit after hit with original series like Wednesday, Stranger Things, and Bridgerton. Earlier this year, Netflix struck gold when it debuted a new comedy series starring Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, and Will Forte, and now fans of the show can stream the 1981 movie that inspired it.

Back in May, Netflix premiered The Four Seasons, a new comedy drama inspired by Alan Alda’s 1981 movie of the same name. The Four Seasons movie started streaming on Netflix alongside the eight-episode series on September 1st. The movie stars Alda, Carol Burnett, Len Cariou, Sandy Dennis, Rita Moreno, and Jack Weston as three middle-aged couples who vacation together each season. However, their dynamics are upended when one divorces his wife for a younger woman, Bess Armstrong’s Ginny, forcing the group to work through feelings of betrayal and criticisms as they learn to accept their new group member.
