Netflix viewers have just days to watch ‘phenomenal’ Original movie before it’s removed
The Netflix original is based on a true story
Netflix is removing one of its Original films from its platform soon with viewers only having days to watch it before it leaves.
The 2016 film is based on an incredible true story about a journalist with a rare neurological disorder that turns their life upside down.
One five-star review on Rotten Tomatoes read: “I watched this as a result of a recommendation from a friend who knows someone who has personally experienced this condition. Very well done. Definitely worth watching. Impressive acting.”
A second person said: “As someone who went through very similar medical issues, this movie did a great job showing what she went through. I felt like I was reliving the worst part of my life watching the movie.”
A third review on the ratings aggregator read: “This film is so beautifully done, it is a brave thing to make something so vulnerable. It helps people understand the feeling of being misunderstood, especially in a medical setting.

“It may not be for everyone, because it’s quite heavy in certain areas, but if you can watch this you should.”
Someone else wrote: “I didnt know this was based on a true story until the movie was over. Knowing now that its a true story, it changes that I thought it started off a bit slow. For a true story based film – this was great! [sic].”
Brain on Fire was adapted from Susannah Cahalan’s memoir Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness with Kick-Ass and Carrie star Chloë Grace Moretz.
The movie focuses on Moretz’s journalist Susannah, who suddenly becomes ill with symptoms that seem like cold and flu initially before becoming progressively more ill.

Many fans have also praised Moretz’s portrayal of the real-life story, with one writing: “OMG! the perfomance of Chloe was mind blowing, she is the real star of the movie, the story was awsome I really enjoyed. Bit slow in places but overall interesting and brings light to something important [sic].”
A second said: “This was a movie. I love Chloe Grace she just does so well at acting and her performance in hospital scenes is just so Legendary. Great movie great story telling i believe there was a book for this movie [sic].”

Although Netflix is a subscription service which grants its members exclusive access of original content, the streaming platform has removed Original TV shows and films in the past.
This is usually due to licensing agreements in place, that means Netflix simply serves as the distributor of a title rather than owning it.
In other cases, there may be licensing issues or the owner decides to withdraw the content.
It’s not clear why Brain on Fire is leaving Netflix US, but it could potentially appear on a different streaming service afterwards.
Brain on Fire will be leaving Netflix US on June 26
