New Ozark Music Festival Set to Take the Stage in June

The inaugural season of the Ozark Music Festival will debut this June.

It will feature 13 public concerts, showcasing classical music performed by college musicians and faculty artists at top universities and major orchestras.

This festive opening event marks the beginning of a season centered around the theme of “Transformation,” reflecting the festival’s journey from its original home in Hot Springs to its new home in the Ozarks.

The first performance is an opening brass fanfare at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Upper Ramble. This will be followed by 12 more days of performances. For a complete schedule of events and performances, click here.

The festival will deliver a series of programs, featuring orchestral masterpieces such as Debussy’s La Mer, Strauss’s Don Juan and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. The repertoire also includes works by contemporary composers Reena Esmail and Angelique Poteat, along with a newly commissioned work by Jeremy Crosmer. Leading the orchestra is Principal Conductor Sunny Xia, the Douglas F. King Associate Conductor of the Seattle Symphony.

Concerts will be held at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, The Momentary and the Faulkner Performing Arts Center. In addition, a series of intimate chamber performances will be presented in community settings across Northwest Arkansas.
