Nigel Farage’s leftist economics are in tune with times

What’s it to be, working people? Would you rather be spoken for by the “Oxford University human rights lawyer” or the “public school-educated ex-metals trader”? The lawyer (as Nigel Farage calls Keir Starmer) — well, he has credibility problems on anything to do with immigration, defence, patriotism and business. The trader (as the TUC chief Paul Nowak calls Farage) — he’s a bit of a cad when it comes to public services, workers’ rights and running anything that’s not a one-man campaign.

The Tories are still out for the count. The battle now under way in local elections is between Labour and Reform. Should voters still give the benefit of the doubt to the traditional political vehicle of the working classes or is it time
