NIZWA: Stanford University has recognised 21 researchers from the University of Nizwa as being among the top 2 per cent of scientists globally for 2025. This prestigious international ranking highlights the most influential researchers in their respective fields, based on comprehensive metrics such as the number of research citations, the quality and impact of scientific publications, and the recognition they receive from the global research community.

Prof Ahmed bin Sulaiman al Harrasi, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nizwa for Postgraduate Studies, Scientific Research and External Relations, described the achievement as a testament to the university’s sustained efforts to promote high-quality research and innovation. He noted that the inclusion of these researchers in Stanford’s list reflects both the depth and the breadth of scientific inquiry being undertaken at the university, across disciplines ranging from health sciences to engineering, environmental studies and social sciences.

The ranking enhances Oman’s visibility on the international academic stage

“This recognition is not only an acknowledgment of individual excellence,” Prof Al Harrasi said, “but also a reflection of the University of Nizwa’s commitment to building a robust research ecosystem that fosters collaboration, innovation and knowledge creation.”

He emphasised that the university has invested significantly in research infrastructure, international collaborations and programmes that support young researchers, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the global scientific community.

Prof Al Harrasi further highlighted that the ranking enhances the Sultanate of Oman’s visibility on the international academic stage and underscores the importance of scientific research in driving sustainable development.
