No weight lifting, daily dinner by 6:30 pm: Akshay Kumar shares his disease free lifestyle tips

Akshay Kumar, one of Bollywood’s most admired stars, has long been known for his disciplined routine and remarkable fitness. With a career spanning more than three decades, he continues to perform his own stunts and maintain peak physical health. Unlike many celebrities, his approach to wellness is simple yet strict, with an emphasis on natural practices rather than heavy workouts or restrictive diets.

Why He Eats Dinner by 6:30 pm

At a recent book launch for Your Body Already Knows, Kumar shared insights into his health habits, particularly his practice of eating dinner as early as 6:30 pm. Explaining the logic behind it, he said that while the body rests at night, a late dinner forces the stomach to keep working. By morning, instead of being able to rest, the stomach is once again burdened with breakfast. He highlighted that many illnesses begin in the digestive system, and giving it time to relax is essential for long-term health.

According to the actor, an early meal ensures that digestion is complete before bedtime, usually around 9 or 10 pm. This routine, he believes, plays a major role in keeping diseases at bay. Kumar stressed that maintaining digestive health is the cornerstone of overall fitness.

Weekly Fasts for Energy and Clarity

In addition to early dinners, Akshay Kumar also follows a weekly fasting ritual. Speaking to IANS, he revealed that every Monday, he goes without food from Sunday night until Tuesday morning. He credited this habit with helping him stay energetic, focused, and free from fatigue.

He further advised against crash diets or reliance on processed food, suggesting instead that discipline and consistency in eating habits can lead to better health outcomes.

Fitness Without Heavy Weights

While his dedication to fitness is well-known, Akshay Kumar’s training methods set him apart from conventional routines. He avoids lifting weights, instead focusing on activities like rock climbing, outdoor sports, and body-weight exercises. In fact, he joked that his gym is designed “for monkeys,” as it is equipped mainly for climbing and hanging exercises rather than traditional weightlifting. On the professional front, Akshay was last seen in a cameo role in the Telugu film Kannappa. His next big release is Jolly LLB 3, directed by Subhash Kapoor, where he stars alongside Arshad Warsi and other ensemble cast members. The film is scheduled to release on September 19, 2025.
