Nothing Makes India the Global Hub for its new CMF brand
London-based tech company Nothing has announced that its sub-brand, CMF, will now operate as an independent subsidiary. India will serve as its global headquarters for research, development, and manufacturing. This move is being seen as a step toward making CMF India’s first global smartphone and consumer tech brand.
Nothing has also partnered with Indian electronics manufacturer Optiemus Infracom in a strategic joint venture. The plan includes over $100 million in investment and aims to create more than 1,800 jobs in India over the next three years. Nothing has already invested over $200 million in India, showing how important the market is to the company.
According to Nothing, this collaboration will strengthen India as a hub for electronics manufacturing. Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, said that India will play a key role in the global smartphone industry and that the company is now in a position to build CMF into a truly global brand.
Optiemus brings experience in engineering, production, and global exports. Ashok Gupta, Executive Chairman of Optiemus, said the partnership will enhance India’s manufacturing capabilities and allow the creation of export-ready products designed in India. He highlighted that this move will showcase Indian innovation and talent globally.
Recently, Nothing has also reorganized CMF’s global operations, moving its marketing division to India and appointing senior leaders locally. Earlier this year, the company raised $200 million in Series C funding at a $1.3 billion valuation, led by Tiger Global and joined by Indian investor Nikhil Kamath.
