Nothing’s 4th software update improves colour accuracy, night photography on Phone (1)

The London-based smartphone brand Nothing has rolled out its fourth software update since the launch of its maiden smartphone – the Nothing Phone (1). The new Nothing OS version 1.1.4 comes with a slew of new features and upgrades to its cameras and system improvements. The latest software update comes with enhancements to colour, motion detection, power and sound on the Phone (1).

Key Improvements To The Camera

According to the brand, the latest update offers key optimisation to the handset’s 50MP camera to deliver its optimal performance. Now users will be able to add a Nothing-themed watermark to their camera apps. The camera gets improved ultra-wide camera colour calibration and enhanced colour consistency among the ultra-wide and main sensors.

For video shooting, the new motion detection algorithm offers better stability while shooting moving objects. Besides, the update also offers increased shooting speed when using the HDR in ultra-wide mode. Night mode shots turn more true-to-life with increased colour accuracy. Users can also take sharper and naturally bright portraits from the selfie camera.

New Features And System Improvements

With the new update, Nothing Phone (1) users will now be able to flip the three-button navigation bar and the device will now support LHDC high-definition audio. On the system front, the security patch has been updated to September. The update will considerably reduce the battery consumption for Always On Display and several other use cases. Other improvements include improved thermal performance, a new UI for system updates, an improved Face Unlock algorithm, and additional general bug fixes.

In the previous update, Nothing OS 1.1.3, the brand had fine-tuned the software for enhanced clarity and improved colour fidelity. Pictures clicked using Glyph lighting were automatically adjusted to their optimal colour brightness.

Nothing also said that it is closely monitoring customer feedback and has been working towards continuous improvements. The brand said it aims to ship the beta version of Nothing OS based on Android 13 in early 2023.
