NTT DATA to invest ₹10500 crore in India’s largest AI data center cluster in Hyderabad, ET Government

Revanth Reddy, who is currently leading an official delegation in Japan.TOKYO/HYDERABAD: In a major boost to India’s digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence capabilities, NTT DATA, a global leader in IT services and data centers, has announced plans to set up a Rs 10,500 crore AI Data Center Cluster in Hyderabad. The announcement came during a high-level investment meeting held in Tokyo, where a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NTT DATA, Neysa Networks, and the Government of Telangana.The upcoming facility will be the country’s largest AI compute infrastructure, featuring a 400 MW data center cluster equipped with 25,000 GPUs to handle both public and enterprise AI workloads. The project is a key milestone in Telangana’s ambition to become the AI capital of India, according to an official release on Friday.

The MoU was formalized in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who is currently leading an official delegation in Japan. Top executives from NTT DATA and Neysa Networks, including Ken Katsuyama (SVP, NTT Corporation), Tadaoki Nishimura (SVP, NTT DATA Inc.), Alok Bajpai (MD, NTT Global Data Centers India), and Sharad Sanghi (CEO, Neysa; Chairman, NTT Global Data Centres India), attended the signing ceremony.

“This landmark investment reflects Telangana’s rise as India’s leading data center hub,” said CM Revanth Reddy. “We offer policy stability, skilled talent, reliable power, and the fastest single-window clearances. Hyderabad is ready to lead the next wave of AI and digital services. Arigatō Gozaimasu to our Japanese partners, and in Telugu, Dhanayavadalu.”

NTT DATA’s upcoming facility will be powered by a mix of grid and renewable energy—up to 500 MW—and will incorporate advanced technologies like liquid immersion cooling to ensure energy efficiency. The campus will follow high ESG standards and collaborate with local academic institutions to nurture AI talent.

The project also marks a strategic collaboration between NTT DATA’s global data center expertise and Neysa’s AI-first cloud platform, aiming to accelerate the development of sovereign and scalable AI solutions in India.

This announcement follows recent large-scale investments by AWS, STT, CtrlS, and Tillman Global Holdings, further cementing Hyderabad’s status as the fastest-growing data center destination in India.

Revanth Reddy delivered a compelling pitch to over 150 leading Japanese investors at a high-powered Investment Roadshow hosted at Hotel Imperial in Tokyo, marking a key moment in the state’s global outreach campaign under the TelanganaRising banner.

“Konnichiwa, Tokyo. Namaskaram. I bring warm greetings from my people in Telangana, India’s youngest and fastest developing state,” said the Chief Minister, striking an emotional chord with his audience. “Japan is called the Land of the Rising Sun. Our state’s vision is TelanganaRising. Today, I am proud to say—Telangana is Rising in the Land of the Rising Sun.”

The CM’s speech blended personal admiration with strategic vision. “I have learnt many things from Tokyo for developing my city of Hyderabad,” he said, praising Japan’s infrastructure, innovation, and discipline. The keynote was an emphatic invitation for Japanese companies to partner with Telangana across sectors like electronics, EVs, AI, green energy, life sciences, and logistics.

The event was inaugurated with opening remarks by Indian Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Sibi George, followed by Toshihiro Mizutani, Director General, JETRO Bangalore, who underscored the strength of Indo-Japan economic ties and the growing potential of Telangana.

Two flagship projects were spotlighted through promotional films:

  • Future City, India’s first planned Net Zero industrial city
  • Musi Riverfront Rejuvenation, among India’s largest urban riverfront transformations

Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary (Industries & Commerce), presented detailed sectoral opportunities, positioning Telangana as an ideal destination for Japanese investments.

The roadshow concluded with one-on-one meetings between the Telangana delegation and Japanese conglomerates, setting the stage for future partnerships. The Tokyo event reinforced Telangana’s commitment to innovation-driven, sustainable growth and its intent to become a gateway for Japanese investments into India.
