Opal Chuangsri makes history as Thailand’s first Miss World winner
Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand was crowned Miss World 2025 on May 31 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, India, marking the first time a Thai woman has won the title.
The 21-year-old emerged victorious among 108 contestants from around the globe. Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia was named first runner-up, followed by Maja Klajda of Poland and Aurélie Joachim of Martinique.
Chuangsri received the crown from outgoing titleholder Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic. The event was co-hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar.
In the final question-and-answer segment, Chuangsri impressed the judges with a metaphor about nurturing a garden, emphasizing the importance of consistent care and leadership.
Born in Phuket, Chuangsri is pursuing a degree in International Relations at Thammasat University. She is fluent in Thai, English, and Chinese, and has expressed aspirations of becoming a diplomat.
Thailand celebrated her historic win with nationwide festivities, as Chuangsri’s achievement marked a significant milestone in the country’s pageant history.
