New Delhi: A British citizen, who resided in India for years, penned an emotional farewell note on LinkedIn. The note touched the hearts of many and showed his and his family’s attachment to India. Jasper Reid, Founder and CEO of International Market Management (IMM), informed his network on the professional site that his 12-year stint in India had come to an end.
He collected the positive aspects of his stay in India and cherished his accomplishments. He also praised the country for teaching him “patience, resilience, hard work and hospitality”. “More than the three years we planned and just about enough to know how India works,” wrote Reid on social media. He added, “We brought PizzaExpress to India, then built Wendy’s and Jamie’s from scratch across 15 cities and 75 sites.”

Reid went on to explain how he was able to support thousands who, in turn, supported more people. The entrepreneur also recollected the contributions made by his organisation during the COVID pandemic. “During lockdown, we fed and helped a million people and bused thousands of migrant workers home,” said Reid.
He even spoke of the challenges of working in India. “..India is many markets but essentially two countries. One of about 200 million whose lives resemble mature markets,” said Reid. Additionally, the CEO explained the deep bond that he and his family shared with India.
“We love India truly, madly and deeply. Our girls are the fourth generation of our family to live and work in India since 1950,” said the British man. In conclusion, he referred to India as his “motherland”.
“Our girls graduated from their New Delhi high school and are heading to university in our fatherland. But our motherland is India. Now we have two parental homes and are not really leaving India but moving to the other side of a great, glorious, magic circle,” said Reid.
LinkedIn users wished him well and thanked Reid for his contributions. Others recollected their times in India as expats. “I am glad you enjoyed the experience..I lived in Mumbai for 6 years and a child and it was formative, educational and entertaining,” wrote one.
