Our Oceans and How to Protect Them’ – The Voice

Ms. Alex Rose, Science editor of Ocean Geographic Magazine, Founder of Blue Ring, Explorers Club Fellow, award winning nature photographer and environmental journalist, will be presenting a session, “Strange and Beautiful: Our Oceans and How to Protect Them,” on Wednesday 18, 2025 as part of the Hicks/Wright Organization’s Summer STEAM Camp. The camp serves children from 3rd-7th grade and meets at Fresh Start Church, 10 S. Lancaster Ave. In Aurora.

Ms. Rose is a graduate of Benedictine University with B.A. in biology and a M.S. in Aquatic Biology. She is a professional violinist, photographer, and lover of all things aquatic. She is currently working as the Science Editor and a principle writer for Ocean Geographic Magazine and is the Managing Editor of Ocean Geographic Explorers. She is a free-lance science writer and editor as well. Alex also composes violin pieces for use in ocean themed films and exhibitions. Her driving goal is to find ways to protect our world’s precious marine habitats through diving, writing, photography, education, and research.

Ms. Rose’s presentation is from 1:00pm-2:30pm. Limited seating is available!
