An official trailer has been released for A24’s Eddington. The film is the latest movie from acclaimed director Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar).

The film features several familiar faces, including Pedro Pascal, who just returned to the small screen with the Season 2 premiere of The Last of Us. Pedro Pascal Has a Big Year in 2025
The film coming to theaters this summer will give fans of Pedro Pascal two chances to see the actor on the big screen. While Eddington will be released on July 18, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will soon follow with a release on July 25. Some fans may even want to get in on a double feature with the Pascal-led films, though it’s pretty clear that the two movies will be wildly different beyond sharing the actor. Meanwhile, Pascal continues to star in The Last of Us, which will have a third season after its current second season wraps.

Director Ari Aster previously described Eddington as a “Western-noir dark ensemble comedy” set during the Covid-19 pandemic. While full details about the plot haven’t been divulged, Aster also gave some hints about the story in a Reddit AMA.
“Although it’s sort of a – I don’t know if you’d call it a revisionist western,” he said. “It’s contemporary; one foot is in the western and one foot is even more heavily in the noir genre.”
Previously, Pascal shared a sneak peek photo of himself in a scene from Eddington with Joaquin Phoenix. The two actors are seen seemingly having a disagreement about something on the street. Pascal did not offer any new information about the story of the characters that the two are playing, though he touted the movie as being an official selection for competiition at Festival De Cannes in May.
This will be Ari Aster’s fourth feature film. After his breakout movie Hereditary found success in 2018, he followed it up with the 2019 hit Midsommar. In 2023, Aster’s third movie, Beau Is Afraid, would be released; that film also featured Phoenix in the leading role.
Eddington will be released in movie theaters on July 18, 2025.
