PepsiCo India posts 883 cr profit in 2024, Manufacturing News, ET Manufacturing

PepsiCo’s headquarters has identified India as one of its 13 “anchor markets”, and it expects these markets to contribute over 85% to its future growth.
Beverages and snacks foods maker PepsiCo India Holdings recorded a consolidated profit of ‘883.4 crore and revenue from operations at ‘9,096.6 crore in 2024, it said in a filing to the Registrar of Companies, a year when it changed its reporting structure to align with its US parent.

Total consolidated income of the maker of Pepsi and Mountain Dew drinks and Lays chips stood at ‘9,268 crore, it said. The company said the numbers are not comparable to the previous year as it had changed its financial year to January-December period from April-March in sync with its parent company’s reporting structure.

With PepsiCo’s beverages business in India being outsourced almost entirely by RJ Corp-owned Varun Beverages (VBL), the company’s core focus now is snacks, a category which is seeing intensified competition with dozens of emerging direct-to-consumer and regional brands. The company sells concentrate to VBL.

For 2023, PepsiCo had filed its earnings for a nine-month period (April-December) to implement the change. It had reported consolidated revenue from operations at ‘5,954.2 crore for the 9 months ended December 2023, and profit at ‘217.3 crore, as per data accessed by Tofler.

Terming the past 12 months “challenging with the FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) industry witnessing a slowdown in urban consumption along with inflationary pressures”, PepsiCo India & South Asia CEO Jagrut Kotecha attributed the numbers to “marketing, marketplace execution and innovation.”
