Philippines Grants Visa-Free Entry To Indians; Direct Delhi-Manila Flights To Launch In October

The Philippines, a gorgeous island that has long been on our radar, has granted visa-free entry to Indian tourists, marking a major win for travellers and diplomatic relations alike. The announcement was made during bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Philippine President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr. in New Delhi on Tuesday.

As part of the growing cooperation, India will extend free e-visas to travellers from the Philippines, and direct flights between Delhi and Manila will resume from October, a long-standing demand from travel enthusiasts and industry players.

Visa-Free Philippines For Indian Tourists

The Philippines, with its gorgeous beaches and a buzzing culture, has long been on the radar of Indian travellers. Whether it’s lounging on Boracay’s white-sand beaches, island-hopping through Palawan, or exploring the colonial charm of Cebu, Indian travellers had many compelling reasons to head to this tiny nation. But there was no direct flight between the two countries, and neither was the visa process that simple.

President Marcos Jr said, “I reiterated our introduction of a visa-free entry privilege and extended our invitation for more Indian tourists to visit the Philippines. I thank PM Modi for the introduction of a scheme to grant visa-free of charge to Philippines tourists travelling to India.” Prime Minister Modi also shared, “It is a matter of pleasure that today we have decided to elevate our relations to the status of a strategic partnership. A comprehensive action plan has also been formulated to translate the potential of this partnership into results.”
