As the company continues to dominate with over 60 per cent market share in key product categories, it has seen a demand surge in premium products by 70-80 per cent year-on-year, signaling a strong consumer shift towards high-end grooming solutions.

In an interview with ETRetail, Vidyut Kaul, Head of Personal Health, Philips Growth Region said, “Despite new players entering and exiting the market, Philips has remained a leader by consistently innovating and understanding consumer needs.” The brand is now preparing to introduce next-generation technology, including AI-driven facial recognition for styling and density-sensing sensors for personalized grooming experiences.

Kaul opined, “India’s grooming habits have evolved significantly, moving from a clean-shaven preference to facial styling, and Philips has played a pivotal role in driving this transformation.” In India, a premiumization trend in metros is driving demand for advanced grooming solutions, while tier 2, 3, and 4 cities are fueling volume growth, he shared.

In line with its “Make in India” vision, Philips has strengthened its local manufacturing capabilities with facilities in Pune, Jharkhand, and northern India, along with a major software development center in Bangalore. The company aims to expand capacity and position India as a key innovation and production hub.

Looking ahead, Kaul expects India’s personal health market to grow in double digits over the next five years, fueled by retail transformation, increasing disposable incomes, and a growing demand for high-tech grooming solutions. With a focus on 4 key dimensions – speed, convenience, cost, and experience, Philips expects to lead India’s grooming and personal health industry.
