Pint of Science festival returning to Darlington in May
The Pint of Science festival, which invites the public into the world of cutting-edge research, will take place at The Forum Music Centre from May 19 to May 21.

Led by academics and partners from Teesside University’s National Horizons Centre, the festival will allow attendees to learn about important research taking place in the town.
The research is conducted within ‘state-of-the-art’ laboratories at the National Horizons Centre, a national centre of excellence for bioscience and healthcare based at Teesside University’s Darlington campus in Central Park.
Speakers and topics confirmed for the three-day festival include Dr Craig McBeth on the reality of cyborgs, Dr Sreejith Raveendran on DNA as a cure for cancer, and Dr Fiona Smith on painless medicine delivery through microneedles.Teesside University’s National Horizons Centre (Image: Teesside University)
Other topics include the misdiagnosis of functional cognitive disorder and delirium as dementia, the unseen biodiversity beneath our feet, Roman leather artefacts, and microscopic living things as a solution to plastic pollution.

Darlington is one of more than 45 UK towns and cities taking part in the worldwide science festival.
