New Delhi: Prime Minister will embark on a two-day visit to Japan on August 29-30 to attend the 15th India-15th India–Japan Annual Summit with his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba. This visit will mark a significant milestone in bilateral relations.

Modi will leave for Tokyo on the evening of August 28. This will be his eighth visit to Japan. The two leaders last met in June 2025 at the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada.

Both nations emphasise on global stability

During his stay, Modi will participate in an India–Japan Business Leaders Forum. This forum aims to deepen the cooperation in diverse sectors such as trade, investment and technology. The highlight of the summit is expected to be Japan’s announcement of a 68 billion dollars (10 trillion yen) investment in India over the next decade. The investment will focus on advanced sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors.

On the strategic front, India and Japan are set to revise their joint declaration on security cooperation for the first time in 17 years. The updated pact will emphasise on both nation’s commitment to regional and global stability.

The two Prime Ministers are also expected to discuss issues related to the Quad grouping, which comprises India, Japan, the US and Australia. Notably, India is scheduled to host the Quad Summit later this year.
