PM Narendra Modi to launch Gandhinagar-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express on September 30

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 30 will launch the Gandhinagar-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express during his two-day visit to Gujarat.

Modi will lay foundation stone of infrastructure projects worth Rs 29,000 crore in the state, according to a government statement on Tuesday.

He will also take a ride on the Vande Bharat Express to Kalupur Railway Station on the same day.

The third Vande Bharat train, which has completed its trials and is fit to be operated commercially, will zoom from 0-100 kmph in 52 seconds as compared to the earlier version which attained the same speed in 54.6 seconds, reported PTI.

During this time, the speed touched the speed of 180 kmph at many places.

Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav had earlier said that the train will have wifi-enabled content on demand, and will come equipped with 32-inch LCD TVs, an improvement on 24 inch in the earlier versions.

Fifteen per cent more energy efficient ACs with dust-free clean air cooling of the traction motor will make the travel more comfortable in the newer version, he had informed.

Side recliner seat facility which is being provided to Executive Class passengers, will now be made available for all classes.

In the new design of the train, a photo-catalytic ultraviolet air purification system is installed in the Roof Mounted Package Unit (RMPU) for air purification.

As recommended by the Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), Chandigarh, this system is designed and installed on both ends of RMPU to filter and clear the air of germs, bacteria, virus, etc.

Vande Bharat is India’s first semi-high speed train with a self-propelled engine. It is completely manufactured in India and has automatic doors, air-conditioned chair car coaches and a revolving chair which can rotate up to 180 degrees.

The first Vande Bharat Express from Delhi to Varanasi was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2019.

The Vande Bharat Express, which became the fastest train in the country, has proved with its speed that it not only makes passengers reach their destination in less time, but also delivers a flight-like experience to them.

The IRCTC has said that the competing Vande Bharat train would eat into the revenue of the Tejas Express running between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The Railways is scheduled to manufacture 75 Vande Bharat trains by August 2023.

The two Vande Bharat trains which are operational are in between New Delhi-Varanasi and New Delhi-Vaishnodevi Katra.
